Adam Yarnes

Adam has had a love for the natural world & adventure for as long as he can remember. He credits this to playing outside as a child on his family’s land in Western New York. Prior to founding Backcountry Unlimited, Adam was the Executive Director of several outdoor schools and summer camps in Arizona and Northern California. Throughout his tenure Adam has become adept at providing exciting safe adventure activities for all ages. Adam graduated from Prescott College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies while emphasizing in Environmental Education. Adam’s passion for traveling and educating about the natural world has taken him to Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, Wyoming and back to Arizona. Adam is delighted to use his years of experiences to provide others with inspiring outdoor experiences. As Dr. Seuss said “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot. Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

Travis Kapp

Travis grew up roaming the forests and deserts of the Desert Southwest. His parents founded and directed summer camps near Prescott, AZ and instilled in him a passion for introducing others to the beauty of the natural world.  During his college education, Travis worked as a summer camp instructor, leading students on day hikes, overnight backpacking trips and teaching ecological improvement programs. Travis graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry.  He has worked as a rock climbing instructor, logistical coordinator and cook for school groups in Pinnacles National Monument and Joshua Tree National Park.  Travis is an avid enthusiast of many outdoor sports and has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Southeast Asia rock climbing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and backpacking.

Jenny Hill

Trip Leader

Jenny has a deep routed passion for spending time in the outdoors and for traveling. This stems from her determination while growing up to find adventure even in your typical New England suburb. Prior to joining the Backcountry Unlimited team, Jenny worked as a teaching mentor at Einstein's Workshop STEM Camp in Burlington, MA and as an equipment manager for the Wake Forest Football Team. Jenny is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in architecture studies at Wake Forest University. She spent a semester studying abroad in Prague, CZ where she was then able to travel to 11 different European cities. In her free time she enjoys playing sports, hiking, and surfing. Jenny's love for finding personal growth in herself and others through time spent outside drives her every day life. For this reason she tries to live her life based around the great quote by Terry Tempest Williams that "Its the small things that loom the largest".
